WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE!
I am a native to St. Petersburg (Russia), a wonderful city on the misty coast of the Baltic Sea.
Early in life, I have been overwhelmed by the majesty of music by G.F. Handel and J.S. Bach, so I was eager to proceed with my first piano
and violin lessons. With the blessing of my parents, music became my passion!
At 22 years of age, I graduated from The Conservatoire of St. Petersburg (the oldest formal music school in Russia) as a violinist/violist.
Soon after that, I left Russia, traveled throughout Europe, and finally came to New York making it my adopted hometown.
Since then I have extensively performed in the U.S., Europe, and Brazil as a soloist, and within a number of music groups/bands.
My violin/viola show includes music of the 18th-20th centuries.
My inspiration comes from many eras and cultural personas: from A.
Vivaldi and Mozart to P. Hindemith, S. Prokofiev, "The Beatles", and "The Army Of Lovers".
My repertoire embraces the classical heritage, the popular Broadway/Hollywood hits, and the folklore traditionals from around the World.
Improvisation is always in my style.
I perform at private/corporate occasions, hotels, restaurants, casinos, schools/colleges. I have been part of various street fairs/festivals.
I also hire out to entertain at weddings/parties, and do serenades at special/romantic events. Upon request I compose music as well.
I produced and released 3 CDs of my performances: "The Other Millennium" (1996), "Simon Zaslavsky Live At Marketplace Center" (1999), "From Russia With Love" (2005).
I offer private instruction in the violin, viola, piano, and history/theory of music.
Currently, I am based in the Boston area (New England/the U.S.).
I will travel to perform and teach anywhere in the U.S., Canada, and other countries throughout the World.
My fees are flexible. They vary depending on the circumstances of the prospective event/performance.

TESTIMONIALS
"I have known Simon Zaslavsky for 22 years; we met at about the time he came to the U.S. from his native Russia.
I attended both Bard College and New England Conservatory where I worked with (as a composer) and listened to
many viola and violin players, and Simon is one of the most accomplished I've ever heard. He is also passionate
about teaching music. He is a well-educated and well-traveled musician of the highest caliber and discipline;
I highly recommend Simon without reservation as an instructor for yourself or your child, or as a performer for your event."
